Concorde
A detailed Summary of Concorde
Through out the history of airplanes people have been trying to achieve greater speed and altitude. Most national governments have been pouring billions of dollars into the improvement of their military planes, but not commercial craft. But now, since the creation of the Concorde, airlines have been able to fly people twice as high and three times as fast as conventional aircraft. People can now make it to their destinations in half the time, which allows for more time to conduct business affairs as well as more time for vacation. The Concorde has revolutionized the airline industry by proving a quick means of travel between distant countries.
Both British and French Aerospace corporations conceived the Concorde project. On the British side was a company called British Aerospace, and for the French was a company called Aerospatiale . These two countries came together to create the fastest commercial airliner ever. The two companies split the designing in half but manufactured different Concorde's . Each country built and flew prototypes in 1969

Although the Concorde has had some major accidents, which have since, grounded these airplanes. I feel that these airlines will have them back up and running pretty soon. Since 1976 The Concorde has operated flawlessly and this almost pristine record is what will get them back in the air again.
The creators of the Concord have incorporated some very unique features into this aircraft. First, due to the speed and altitude that the plane travels designers had to incorporate special features. These features include a fighter jet like wing design, back-up fuel tanks, highly reflective paint, and a heat shield for the cockpit. The Concorde's cockpit is only nine feet wide but two hundred and two feet long from cockpit to tail. The Concorde has very thin but strong wings, which allow for easier take off and landing. When landing, the aircraft has to hydraulically point its nose towards the ground. This helps the aircraft decent. The powerhouses of the Concorde are two Rolls Royce/Snecma Olympus 593 turbo jet engines. These engines can generate 18.7 tons of thrust,
