A detailed Summary of Alexander The Great


In almost every story, whether it is a short story or a novel, there is a conflict. Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is no exception. The two conflicts in this story deal with Jim's fight for freedom, and Huck's fight between his sense of good and bad in relation to that of society.

The first of the two conflicts is the external conflict to achieve Jim's freedom. When Huck first runs off he doesn't expect to take upon himself the role of freeing Jim. After he encounters Jim on Jackson Island, Huck joins up with Jim on his quest to Cairo and freedom. Huck and Jim run into some bumps along their way down the river. Their raft get destroyed when they get a little too close to a steamboat which causes a delay in their trip down river. Later on they meet up with the King and Dauphin who only use them as a mode of transportation and escape route from the trouble they tend to start. Little did Huck and Jim know this would be one of the biggest mistakes of their adventure down the river.

The King and Dauphin are probably one of the biggest reasons for delaying Jim's escape to freedom. W


Looking at it from the standpoint of Jim becoming free, the trip and hard work put forth to free Jim was all in vain. If taken into consideration the fact that both Huck and Jim grew closer and Huck became his on person with his own ideals, the trip may be considered very valuable. The two conflicts do revolve around the main notion of Jim becoming free, which in all actuality wasn't a conflict but a matter of time.

hen the King and Dauphin put on a show not only are they chased out of town by the enraged spectators but they also bring Jim and Huck into close quarters with danger. If plaguing Huck and Jim with delays and trouble wasn't enough, the Dauphin sells Jim for a mere forty dollars. This causes Huck to spend three days in his search for Jim so he can "steal him out of slavery." When Huck finally makes his way to where Jim is being held captive he discovers it is the house of Tom Sawyer's Aunt Sally and Uncle Silas. Luckily Huck intercepts Tom and they agree to switch places in order to help free Jim. One item of information that Tom conceals is the fact that Jim is a free slave. There i
