Louis XIV was the king of France from 1643-1715 in this reign he made some great statements about religion. From the Edict of Nates to rejecting Colbert ideas. Before Louis was king a man named Henry IV he declared that the Huguenots could worship in peace. Huguenots could set up at least one house to worship at. This declaration was known as the Edict of Nates. Many of Frances skilled workers and business leaders were Huguenots (French protestants). They took a leading role in commerce,
