Dreaming
What is a dream? Some dictionaries say, "A series of thoughts, images, emotions that occur during sleep" (Crisp 35). Yet other references say that dreams are a communication of body, mind and spirit in a symbolic communicative environmental state of being. There are some commonly asked questions about dreams. Many can be answered scientifically, but are scientific answers good enough? Is there another side still undiscovered? Before reading, let it be know that some facts might be true and some just assumptions about dreams. But if you wish to enter, then close your eyes, relax and enter the dream world as the answers are revealed. (Genesis 37-42) The history of dreams is evident through out time. Dreams are mentioned often in the Bible. One inference is in the book of Genesis, chapter thirty-seven through forty-one. Joseph, a young boy in Canaan, had dreams that he would become ruler over his eleven older brothers. Even worse, he told them that they would bow down to him. Outraged, they threw him in a well and sold him into slavery. Despite the opposition, he went on to interpret the Pharaoh's dream and become a great leader. Many people have had dreams of warning or drea
ms of death. Some common dreams are those of falling, flying, or just walking around. Murders are sometimes committed and become reality in the morning. Why do these phenomenons happen? What is behind these occurrences? That's all great you say, but what are dreams really? Try to imagine your brain kicking around emotions, thoughts, ideas, actions and interactions of the short-term memory. Yet in the back of your mind, the trends of your life and the thoughts that influence it remain. (Crisp163) One other interesting fact is that some studies show that babies dream much more that adults. In fact, some studies suggest that babies who are good sleepers tend to be more intelligent. If you think about it, the babies who are not good sleepers tend to grow up to be the stupid ones. Other say that babies hold all the secrets of the universe. The reason is simple, one of the functions of sleeping for infants is "making brain cell connections ", so that those who sleep more have more connected cells. (Crisp152)Your mind is also processing spiritual data, your beliefs, and whether or not you violated them. All this data is a form of chaos, and your mind puts it all together in a form of visual screenplay. These forms of sight, sound, emotion and imagery are, you guessed it, a dream. We start with nightmares. Many dreams lead us to feel an intensity of emotion we may never feel in waking life. If the emotions felt are frightening or disgusting, we call the dream a nightmare. One of the many things people say is, "Yes, I dream but I can't ever remember them. And if I do dream, it is very seldom." The most important action to remember dreams is motivation; you have to want to remember your dream. (Crisp 134) Now tha
