Abortion

Throughout the years, abortion has become a regular part of life. Practiced in countries all over the world such as the Soviet Union, Japan and Eastern Europe.(paraphase, comptons encyclopedia p.11) In 1973, abortions were made legal in the United States. Abortion is the loss of the fetus, or unborn offspring, before it is developed enough to live on its own outside the womb.(quote, comptons encyclopedia p. 11) A metal or plastic tube is inserted into the uterus through the cervix. It is then used to scrape the developing embryo, or fetus as it is called, from the walls of the uterus. A suction machine at the other end of the tube is used to remove the remains of the fetus. (paraphase) Although the abortion rate has dropped considerably in the past few years, this is partially due to the changing social attitudes torwards abortion. (stat 4) Worldwide, about 46 million women have abortions and this represents 22% of the 210 million pregnacies that occur yearly. Some think that abortions are fine and that the mother has the ultimate choice in deciding if her baby is born or not. They are Pro-choice; the other side of the abortion issue. (stat 6) People who are Pro-Life believe that abortion is murder. It is a violation of human rig

Some believe that abortion is fine and that the killing an innocent baby is easily justified. Others believe that abortion is wrong and should only be used in dire situations. In the early 1980's there was a Pro-Life campaign to put into the constitution an amendment prohibiting abortion. They argued that it could be made possible in the future that it would be permitted. (1) Abortion is murder. It is voluntary manslughter. When someone is instructed to kill another living, breathing being, it is murder. Plain and simple. No matter how you look at it, a life is being taken away. We have laws that prohibit murdering, shootings, stealings, but no laws that prohibit killing unborn babies. Abortion was considered illegal up untill 1983 (1) The problem is that abortion has become an industry. Its similar to cancer. It would be great if we solved the problem of cancer, but thousands of people would be out of the job. So many people are invested economically in abortion that it would be catastrophic if it was abolished, ending all the jobs of people in the abortion business. The abortion issues have become a source of unlimitted fundraising potential, a catalyst for mobilizing voting blocs and an irresistable platform to personal political power. (2) You cannot doubt the intentions of both sides fighting for what they believe in, but there is a big reason for keeping the abortion issue alive :Its become a big business. That shouldnt be the cause for why we defend life. You are in Pro-Life because its what you believe in, regardless of any profit that is involved.
