A detailed Summary of tujillo

The Dominican Republic is a beautiful country that is the crown of the Caribbean. Many people do not know that the Dominican has a past that shrouds its people's everyday life. The cause of this was a tyrant named Trujillo. The man used force to come to power; to rule and run his country; and force was the only way to get him out of power. During Trujillo's regime the Marabal Sisters are the people that stood out the most.

Before becoming dictator, Trujillo was the commander of the National Army. He used his status in the army to gain power. With Trujillo's private army of assassins "SIM" and his powerful politicians like Rafael Estrella Urena, Trujillo was able to gained power. Rafael Estrella Urena started a revolution and made a deal with Trujillo saying that if he held back his own army then he would let him be president. They began a successful coup d tat to oust the president and the vice president. The following month Vasquez and Alfonseca resigned and left for exile in Puerto Rico. The proper elections were held in May, Trujillo running for president and Ureņa as vice president. They won and were sworn into off

The Mirabal Sisters were the famous Las Mariposas. They were the symbols of defiant hope in a country pillaged by dictatorship and despair. The story of the sisters is an ongoing legacy of bravery and compassion in order to save the lives of many Dominicans. They went against Trujillo and stood out as national heroines. Patria Mercedes Mirabal, Minerva Mirabal, and Maria Teresa Mirabal, were the three sisters who Trujillo had murdered while driving on a lonely mountain road. They were coming back from visiting their jailed husbands who had been purposely transferred to a distant prison so they would have to make the long trip. Dede, the only sister who did not make the trip survived. During the terrifying regime of Trujillo any hint of disagreement resulted in the death for the person and often for members of his or her family. But the Mirabals risked and gave their loves for freedom.

Trujillo had almost complete loyalty from his country, up until a few years before his assassination. In the end Trujillo's thirst for power, his greed and his ego were too much. He lost control and loyalty after the murder of the Mirabal
