The sword of truth: Wizards First Rule, is a magnificently rendered piece of fantastical work by a great author named Terry Goodkind. Terry Goodkind was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1949. He started working on his first novel in 1993, and Wizard's First Rule burst upon the fantasy scene in 1994. . With the Sword of Truth series, Terry Goodkind has established himself as one of the most acknowledged fantasy writers. Before becoming a writer Terry Goodkind has occupied many jobs. He has worked as a carpenter, a violinmaker, a hypnotherapist, a wildlife artist and a restorer of rare artifacts.

This behemoth of a book first, which contains 573 pages, peeked my interest as it came highly recommended by a good friend of mine. The book, which was published by TOR Fantasy in New York, N.Y., is the first one of the sword of truth series. It currently holds six books in its library,


The basic plot of the book is as follows, the fantastical word in witch the novel takes places has been divided into three division with barriers to separated them all. With a blood hungry evil ruler, Darken Rahl, who is stuck on taking over the three lands using the power of an old magic long forgotten. Richard Cypher with the help of Kahlan and a cloud reader named Zeddicus Zollander have to overcome Rahl and his evil armies to save the world. But in order to do this Richard must first find out how to be the true "Seeker" and how to use The Wizards First Rule
