The last couple of years, violence in schools has spread widely throughout the nation. This has caused major concerns among students, families, faculty of schools, and residents of many areas. In this paper I will discuss the reasons why I believe violence in schools exists and what can be done to prevent it.

Society can often be a harsh world to live in for a teen. To be considered "in" you must fit the role of the "ideal person." As young adults, teens are trying to find themselves, their own identity, their own special character. They look towards celebrities and leaders for ideas. They try to buy the "right" clothes, wear the nicest shoes, and be present at all the "cool" social events. To fit in, some may say teens are pushed to the edge. If you are caught in a dark alley at the wrong time, you might be killed just for the shoes on your feet. Competition among fellow teens leads to jealousy and jealousy leads to violent unjust acts.
