The "Mirror" is a poem that discusses the quality of the mirror and difficulty of seeing deeper into one's self. The speaker in the poem is the mirror, which describes itself in human-way form throughout the poem. The form of the poem is like a riddle. The mirror has a mind of its own, it tells us what it sees day by day.
The mirror starts out saying, "I am silver and exact. I have no preconceptions."(1) This sentence shows that the author is describing the mirror as the speaker. The mirror belongs to a woman who wakes up everyday and looks at it hoping to see a young, beautiful reflection of herself.
