Is Technology Always for the B

Is Technology Always for the Better?

Where would America be without the technological advancements of our age? Would we be a third world nation? Maybe not even a nation at all. Is there such a thing as too much advancement? Technology has integrated itself into our society. It affects how we work and play. It will shape our future as it has our past. The Internet shares information worldwide to the dismay of many. Computers have made many of our lives easier. In the process, they have cost jobs, security, and the ethics of our nation.

To say that technology has changed the way we live would be an understatement. From the buildings that we work in, to the cars that we drive, or even the food that we eat, technology has become ever prevalent. The sharing of information is easier than opening a book. People used to tune in, now they log in. Activity levels are steadily decreasing as consumers find access to chat rooms, entertainment and shopping. Business can reach right to your computer with cookies unlike commercial were never able to. The more sites you hit companies know your preferences and bombard you with offers and discounts. Then they sell your internet protocol address to others who send waves of more advertisements. Leaving your 'you've got mail' wave in a perpetual loop.

Shopping does not require leaving your house. As hermitic lifestyles increase through usage so does eye damage, arm strain, and carpal tunnel syndrome. Staying inside may decrease ultra violet ray exposure but does that make up for general atrophy of muscle tissue.

Computers have revolutionized science. Through DNA reconstruction, labs have found cures to diseases. They have been able to map which chain a disease's gene lies on and splice a healthy one in. They have
