What is the most well known fact about the Holocaust? Many people would say this, "The Nazis killed six million Jews." People might be shocked with this tragic fact, but it's hard to explain each person's death. In order to understand better this miss- happen I must put myself on a more personal level with the victims. I can do this by reading personal things about people that pass through that or by talking with survivors. Hitler's victims died horribly for their religion, nationality, sexual preference, or even for what they believed in. We should will remember and honor these brave people for surviving discrimination of the worst way, death.

We must know realize that those persecuted by Hitler are not much different than we. Many of us are or know at least one Jew, homosexual, or handicapped person. These victims could easily have been a family member, close friend, or ever ourselves. Hitler and his people had no mercy. They murdered anyone no matter of age or sex. Hitler had a sick dream of creating a perfect, or "Aryan", race. To create this race, he would kill all those who he thought were not perfect. These imperfect people included Jews, homosexuals, and the handicapped.


When they got to the concentration camps, several things might have happened, depending on which concentration camp they went to. They had a way to decide who could "work" at the camps. Anyone who was decided to not to work, or simply anyone they chose, was killed. This looks bad but compared to the alternative, Medical and Scientific experimentation. Prisoners were subject to extremely painful experiments. Almost all experimentation resulted in death. Some of these experiments were even done on young children.

These three groups were not the only to be killed by Hitler. Many others including gypsies, women, and children were also treated bad or killed. Hitler's reign left a long amount of death, destruction, and emotional problems. All of this happened, through the cruel executions and experiments, which were performed on these, many persecuted groups.

Hitler also killed another group for being born handicapped. Since Hitler wanted an "Aryan" race, he could not have any physically or mentally imperfect people. He believed that the genocide of handicapped would not only relieve him of these imperfect people, but also prevent any more from being born into his Aryan race. Depending on personal opinion, the handicapped had been lucky and
