Capital punishment is the legal infliction off death as a penalty for violating criminal law. In today’s world there is a lot of controversy over capital punishment. Two questions are being asked: Is capital punishment effective? And, is it morally right?People who are in favour of capital punishment say that the criminals deserve, it is the only form of compensation to the victim’s family and it is for the safety of society. Those who oppose it say that it is immoral, nobody has the right to end another’s life, it has no place in today’s society and it is teaching our children revenge. The capital punishment I refer to is only to murderers. Capital punishment can be justified for several reasons. First of all, many murderers are serving only half their sentences being released on early parole. There are two reasons for this, “good behaviour” and overcrowding in prisons. Do we really want murderers walking among us “free” in society? I personally do not want a person who has committed murder to be living near me or anyone else I know.
