Afterwards Erebus mated with Night, who bore Ether. She was the heavenly light. Then Night with no help from anyone else created vengeance, fate, doom and anything else that came to man from the darkness. Following the same trend as the night Gaea bore, with no help from anyone else, Uranus, the god of the sky. From his spilt blood came the giants, the ash tree nymphs and the erinnyes; and from his remains in the sea came Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Much later, the Giants also challenged Zeus' role.
