The first time I saw the movie 'Romeo and Juliet' was in English class. The film is an adaptation of the play by William Shakespeare about two teenage

children from warring families who fall in love. Convinced that their families will never allow their marriage, the two lovers attempt to conceal their affair. This film was made in the late 60's and I had the impression that it could be boring. However, I like it so much so I have rented it because I wanted to see it again. Scenes like the ballroom, the balcony, the wedding have impressed me very much because the movie was actually so executed with great conviction. While I was watching that film I realized that everyone seeks a little bit of romance in his life because romance and love is something that fulfils every person in the world. My emotions as I was watching that film were great. This film is based on love. I truly believe that a relationships or marriages can be successful if they are based on love. I have decided to write an essay about love and arranged marriage even though the story has not any arranged marriage but an affair and love emotion. Basically, the movie 'Romeo and Juliet' combined with a story that I have read recently made me to feel the desire to write something about this issue. The story is written by Judith Ortiz Cofer and is based on a story of a young girl from Puerto Rico. In the story there is a proposal from a man, El Arabe, to the father of the girl for an arranged marriage for his son. El Arabe just wanted a way to get his son a visa. However, the story shows clearly the initial emotions of the girl for that proposal. 'I tried not to cry out, but something broke in me when I heard my father's anguished scream of Not for Sale! Not for Sale! (105) The story is full of emotions and very rich in ideas. It is so emotional like "Romeo and Juliet".

A marriage is a matter of luck and sometimes we have to approach it more carefully. It is better to have a divorce than to live in an unhappy marriage. So every future couple must take into consideration all the factors of the successful marriage including love. Both marriages can be successful and we have to choose what kind of marriage is better for us. It is a matter of our character and our culture. Different people are looking for different aspects in marriages and it depends of family morals too. In my case, I can not imagine myself to get married without the love enthusiasm. If I know that someone else chose my mate, I will do my best to "break" this marriage. I want to feel that I passed many excellent moments with my mate because I saw her, I felt love, and I have made efforts to seduce her and to make her to love me.
