The Main reason why Mr. Brady comes to Hillsboro is to defend what The Bible is stating. In the play Mr. Brady is a strong believer of what The Bible states and uses what he knows about The Bible to his knowledge to his advantage.

In the beginning of the play Mr. Brady questions a schoolboy by the name of Howard. Howard states that what his teacher, Mr. Bret Cates, is that "people started out from cells."
