Have you wondered how all the pollution humans have given off effects our world? Well, in this paper I will talk about the causes and effects of the ozone depletion and the greenhouse effect. After comparing and contrasting these items I will propose a solution for them.
The main cause of the ozone depletion is CFC's being released in our environment. These effect the ozone so much because they have a chlorine molecule that reacts with the O3 particles the ozone is made up of. These O3 particles the ozone is made up of, protect us humans and plants from UV rays. It does this by reflecting some of them back into space. Our ozone is loosing these particles in mass quantities. It is estimated that 1 chlorine carbon can destroy thousands or more O3 particles. Now we have found out that some volcanoes have released mass quantities of sulfur that act as a catalyst for these cfc's so
they can eat holes in the ozone near the equator.
The greenhouse effect was caused by too much carbon dioxide being released in the environment. Even though carbon dioxide is naturally being released in the environment all the time. It is all so naturally replenished by plant life. The problem is humans are producing too much carbon dioxide for our plants to replenish, and on top of that we are cutting our trees down. What this excess of carbon dioxide does is floats up in the atmosphere forms a kind of cloud that traps UV rays in our environment.
