Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter, tomorrow we will run faster, stretch our arms farther..and one fine morning. Jay Gatsby clearly embodies the American dream as well as America itself. Through being a self-made man, and developing from rags to riches, Gatsby symbolizes the American dream. Through his high yet false hopes and dreams, Gatsby represents America.
