Susan B. Anthony was born in 1819. As a toddler, Susan's father taught Susan and her older sister about women's rights, because that is what he and Susan's mother believed in (Ronwell, 1).When Susan grew older she started school and learned many things, except long division, which she really wanted to learn. The teacher said that because she was a girl she couldn't learn it. After that, because of the teacher's unfairness to Susan, her father started his own school, which allowed Susan and her two sisters to learn long division (Nelson, 39). When Susan was a teenager she got her first job teaching at a local school. She taught her students about women and men being equal. (Runkle, 39-40) Even though Susan loved teaching and the students, Susan found out that male teachers were paid more then the female teachers, and to her, that was all she could take.
