America as a global civilization
America is the biggest example of the global civilization that the world lives in. The U.S. population consists of a mixture of nationalities. Business’s extend across the oceans to foreign markets and foreign companies. The age of industrilization and the advancements in technology are some of the factors that helped create this civilization. The growth of technology, the industrial revolution, exploration and war have created a society that reaches across the vast oceans. Today people and business are located and communicate with one another all over the world. In the late 1400’s and early 1500’s there was a large amount of exploration by many different cultures. These journey’s helped discover new lands and expanded populations to different parts of the world. One of the most famous explorers was Cristopher Columbus. Columbus discovered the americas in October of 1492 (WH, New Encounters pp499). At first he thought he had reached Asia, but what he discovered was what we call today America. Over the years this land became a melting pot for different cultures searching for freedom and a new beginning.
