After school had been let out, Richard and the other ways would go to a one-way street and conversed. The boys ranged with age, and attitudes. Some were jokers, and others took the role of practical society people. Richard would participate, and so would others. Richard I felt was the type that understood more, and knew what he was talking about.
Most of these conversations were about the interactions with "whites". Many of the things said, were just something regurgitated from their conversations from their parents. After every sentence, Richard would summarize what information was being passed. Also, after each contradictory statement, there would be a pause for the next speak to express their knowledge.
Richards would suffer from a stroke, and then would go to Jackson to there grandparents
In school Richard meets a boy who is selling papers. Richard knew that they were published in Chicago. So he sold them to make a couple of cents. Richard then, meets a black man who asks Richard what he was selling. What Richard didn't know was that it was Ku Klux Klan magazine he was promoting.
Richard was again asked if he believed in God, and his reaction was a simple "I don't know". The problem was that he didn't see God. Richard was zoomed into the ceremony, watched how the preacher preached. Richard also witnessed a baptism, which he totally disagreed and wanted to say something, but he pulled back.
