It is mid-morning March 4, 2000 in Boise, Idaho. Students are rushing around Riverglen Junior High School completing last minute preparations. This is not the normal activity for a school on a Saturday. It is Idaho History Day. Overall, I was very impressed with the students that competed in the Idaho History day 2000. I had the privilege to watch the junior level performances. Many of these were astonishing. I was overwhelmed with the level of knowledge each of these students had of the subject area. I was proud to be a judge of such dedicated and enthusiastic children. I truly believe that if teachers bring history alive for their students the enthusiasm will grow.
