DATING AND RELATIONSHIPS
Dating is defined as the initial step in the acceptance process leading to a type of relationship, which desires intimate union. Dating can also be thought of as an exploration of our partners as well as of ourselves. It shows ourselves how well we deal with commitment in our lives. When a couple is first introduced, there is often a feeling of a deep unknown. Will the date go well? How would I know if he/she is suitable? Are we the same type of person? A typical relationship can be broken down into five different stages depending on the compatibility of the partners. Compatibility is how well a couple relates with each other. Being able to live and cope together in agreement shows a well-matched unit. The five stages are as follows: Attraction, Uncertainty, Exclusivity, Intimacy, and Engagement. The first step in dating is attraction. Families may oppose the bonding of their loved one with someone of another race because of political reasons, religious reasons or family pride. Even though times change and the acceptance of interracial dating has increased at a large rate, not everyone will be a supporter of interracial dating and marriages. After spending many hours together, the couple feels comfort in being with each other. Intimacy is introduced. Being relaxed enough and able to share themselves with each other will bring out the best in each person. From here, the couple will decide how well suited they are in exchanging intimacy. Displaying their true love for one another, will lead a better understanding of compatibility. Intimacy does not mean sex in this case. The church does not allow sexual intercourse before marriage. In the third stage of dating, people will feel a need to date someone exclusively. Without competition from others, one will now devote extra time to make sure he or she's partner is theirs and no one else's. Being comfortable around the partner i
