ABOMB

It began in the desert of New Mexico on July 16, 1945, with the first U.S. atomic test called Trinity. The device was comprised of 19,300 tons of TNT explosive. There was an intense light that brightened the distant mountains, a sudden wave of heat, and then a tremendous roar as the shock wave echoed in the valley (Bolt 1). This was the first atomic test recorded in the history of the world. The man who invented the atomic bomb was physicist Albert Einstein. Two months after Einstein's incredible invention, the United States dropped two atomic bombs on Japan. One bomb was nicknamed Little Boy, which killed 70,000 people, including soldiers of the second Japanese Army in a town called Hiroshima. The second bomb, which was called the Fat Man, killed about 39,000 persons in Nagasaki on August 15 (Bolt2). The use of mass destruction proves its point when it takes the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent people. These two bombs opened the gates to the Nuclear age throughout the history of the world. Countries like Russia, India, the United States, and Great Britain, are currently developing more deadly atomic bombs, in case of war. The lives of millions of innocent people will be at risk. This is why we should fully understand

The United States did in fact fear from Russia that it might use nuclear weapons on the U.S. in a war. On November 4, 1948 the United States called for a United Nation general assembly to control nuclear arms. Despite the important issues discussed in the United Nation the Russians continued to detonate atomic bombs. This meant that Russia not only opposed the issue of disarmament, but also showed a great threat throughout the world that Russia is still trying to become the more powerful country. In addition in 1949, the United States established the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) for a second time to control nuclear arms. "One of the chief tasks of the United States policy in NATO, therefore, is to overcome the

A man by the name of Albert Einstein first invented the Atomic Bomb during the late thirties and early forties. This was a time where the United States was involved in one of the worst wars ever recorded, World War Two. Hitler who lead the German army died later in the war was nicknamed the "Devil" himself (Bolt 5). After Germany was finally defeated, Japan continued on fighting. As a result on December 7, 1941 in Pearl Harbor a fleet of Japanese fighter pilots raided the island destroying dozens of ships and killing military personnel in its deadly path. The United States ominously calling for counter action recommend the United States finally use its new weapon. In 1939, the German born scientist Albert Einstein had informed President Roosevelt about the possibility of creating a super bomb (Scott Fetzer 494). The super bomb was just another name for atomic bomb which would cause such an explosion that every single atom in the bomb would split in half (Einstein 494). This meant that if the United States were to ever use this super bomb the lives of millions of innocent people would be put at risk.

During the early 1960's one of the most frightening things president Kennedy faced during his time was the Cuban missile crisis. Since the invention of the atomic bomb the United States faced dramatic complication with the Russians itself. One of the problems the United faced was the secret nuclear missile shipment from Russia to Cuba. The chairman of Russia, Nakita Krushchev was one of the most feared people of the United States time. President Kennedy knew that the United States must take actions if Russia continues to secretly store nuclear weapons in Cuba. President Kennedy knew that this was a serious but delicate matter. One of the problems the United States faced was the threat that Russia might use nuclear weapons stored in Cuba at the United States. The Kennedy administration knew that if Russia were to ever use nuclear weapons on the United States that millions of people would be put at risk. This is why President Kennedy called for another conference with Russia in the United Nation for a test ban treaty called CTB and LTB treaties.

In 1949, the United States navy had done tests in our rainwater. Reports show that radioactive rain has fallen from the sky and killed plant vegetation here in the United States. The navy has reasons to believe that the air currents had pushed dark clouds from the Russian regional area, which carried radioactive chemicals in the clouds causing acid rain to pour into our souls. (Bolt 10). Hundreds of farmers in the south had been complaining that their crops have been dying out because of the rain. Usually farmers are delighted to see rain pour onto their crops because farmers save money on water during the year. Farmers have been furiously upset that the economy has been sloping downward for many years. Russia who is not to far away from the United States is put to blame for the decrease in the economy. This is just one problem the United States faced during the nuclear age.

After the completion of the atomic bomb, the United States has been trying furiously to develop a more powerful nuclear weapon during the early 1950's. The United States new that after
