Mental illness will now strike one in five people in the United States alone and the numbers are steadily increasing. In particular, serious depression has risen astonishingly in the recent years. Depression is, by defintion, "A condition marked by an inablity to concentrate, insomnia, and feeling of dejection and hopelessness." There are so many types of depression and mental illlness that it is sometimes hard to be traced, but if it is goes without being treated, can be deadly. Sucide rates among adolescents and young adults are climbing steadily. It is no longer the older people whom are depressed. This disease will devastate people of all ages and races. Many people who have been admired throughout history have too struggeled with this. A study of 300 biographies of history's most accomplished politicans, scientists, artists and philosophers found evidence that 3 out of 4 of them would have been considered depressed.At the same time, it is important to keep in mind that approximately 50 percent of individuals who suffer from an episode of major depression will experience second episodes.
