This is for an assignment where we had to write a continuation estra scene type thing in the style of Holden.

Before my scene takes place, Holden has just shown the two young boys down to the long "tunnel" to the Mummy exhibits. In the book Holden didn't stay and look at the mummy exhibit, but in my scene he does...

So, after the little kids left I got to thinking about mummies, and death and all other kinds of depressing thoughts. A guy can get real depressed thinking about death when he is in a mummy exhibit all by himself. He really can. So anyway there I am, looking at these dead guys and I started talking to Allie. Now, I know it was a really crazy thing to do. It certainly was, but that's what I started doing anyways. I just started asking him if there were any kind of mummy kings wherever he was. Yeah, it was stupid, and depressing. And then I made an even bigger


jerk of myself by crying. I am not usually the kind of guy to just cry, really, I'm not. But for some reason being alone with mummies in the basement exhibit of a museum, a guy gets kind of strange. I remember when I was a kid and we used to come here with my school, how much fun it was to be with these mummies. It was spooky, but it was okay because you were with your buddies and it was all a joke. When you're a kid, you're young and dumb, and everything is a joke. It really is. I remember, I truly do. So there I am sitting in the basement looking at all these long dead guys, and then, just to get my mind off Allie, I start to thinking about all the other phonies who have been right here where I am. They were probably college clowns in long trench coats, like the guys Sally and other dumb girls like her, all always falling all over themselves to get at. And then I got to wondering about what kind
