I Know WhyThe Caged Bird Sings
"I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings" By: Maya Angelou§ When I started reading I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, I thought that it was a little boring at first but I thought that it was about a young African-American girl who tells her troubles in life as she grows up. § I changed my mind about my thoughts on this book because I started reading it more I began to like it better and I was more into the book. § My favorite part of the book was when Maya started to open up to the world again and began by doing so by talking to Mrs. Bertha Flowers. § I was confused by why Margaret and Bailey were sent back to stamps after the incident, with Marguerite being raped, with Mr. Freeman. Because if their parents loved them and could now afford to support them why couldn't they now stay with them? § I was surprised when Mr. Freeman had began to sexually abuse and rape Maya because I didn't think that he would do such a thing to his girlfriends daughter, and who would have thought that he'd be such a cruel person to do that to a young helpless girl that didn't know right from wrong at the time. § I predict that Maya will finally fully overcome her rape and live a better life.
