The Effect Of Prohibition In The 1920's

The great American dream in the 1920's was the need to make it, to succeed, gain wealth happiness freedom, and the need to be excepted. There will always be the block aid or failure which is the reality. In 1917 US congress passed the Eighteenth Amendment to the constitution which prohibited the export, import, making, selling and transport of alcoholic beverages in the United States of America. In January 1919 three fourths of the States had approved prohibition and in 1920 the law went into effect Prohibition was to believed to be the biggest effect on the 1920. Prohibition is perceived to be wrong because it infringed on the American citizens rights. This is true through these three points the idea behind prohibition, the crime that prohibition started, and the backlash of prohibition.

The main idea for prohibition was to stop Americans from drinking. "Leaders of the prohibition movement believed once license to do business was removed from liquor traffic, the churches and reform organization would enjoy an opportunity to pursuade Americans to give you drinking. This opportunity would occur unchallenged by the dr


This idea of prohitibion that the American congress wished to impliment on America was to be great to set the nation strate.

Through out the years prohibition was installed in the U.S. there was more drinking, more violance the starting up on gangs, and mofia's. So when looked back upon prohihbition was an immoral implement to bestoy on the working American citizen who has just returned form the war and this was proven by these three points the main idea of prohibition, the crime that prohibition caused and the backlash of prohibition.

In the backlash of the prohibition in the 20's was that boozes became more popular "Instead of slowing booze to a trickle, Prohibition caused it to engulf the land in a torrent. Booze became more popular than it otherwise would have been and made the Roaring Twenties even more exciting between the millions of average people who flouted the law and the violent gangsters it spawned"(Lloyed, Online). Another incedent that happened was In the three months before the prohibition was to became effective, liquor worth half a million dollars was stolen from Government warehouses. In the summer
