The great American dream in the 1920's was the need to make it, to succeed, gain wealth happiness freedom, and the need to be excepted. In 1917 US congress passed the Eighteenth Amendment to the constitution which prohibited the export, import, making, selling and transport of alcoholic beverages in the United States of America. In January 1919 three fourths of the States had approved prohibition and in 1920 the law went into effect Prohibition was to believed to be the biggest effect on the 1920. Prohibition is perceived to be wrong because it infringed on the American citizens rights.
