There are many famous people in Arizona's history. One of them is Sandra Day O'Connor. She started out on a ranch in Flagstaff. At the Age of 22 she became a jurist. Then she opened up a private law practice in Phoenix in 1959. From 1969 through 1975 she was the state senator. During her years as senator she became senate majority leader from 1973 through 1974. She had a seat on the Marcopia County's superior from 1975 to 1979. She then went to the court of appeals from 1979 to 1981. In 1981 she was accepted into the Supreme Court as an associate justice.
