Mrs. Dubose was an old lady and Scout thought she just loved being mean. Mrs. Dubose was always yelling and putting people down. She always made Jem and Scout mad. Jem always tried to stay nice but it was hard for him. "Your Fathers no better then the niggers and trash he working for," said Mrs. Dubose. This really made Jem and Scout upset, but they keep calm, even though they were steaming mad inside. Atticus was telling Jem, "According to her views, she died beholden to nothing and nobody.
