A detailed Summary of literature


I thought that the most important part of the story happened when Gurov went out looking for Anna at the theater. To me the peak of the story happened when Gurov wen to the theater and saw her walking in with her husband. Only because having read the beginning of the story, and knowing how they were like when they were together, made the reader wonder what kind of reaction was going to take place. As Anna's husband got up to have a smoke, Gurov finally builds up enough courage to approach her. One may also wonder that if her husband had not gotten up to have a smoke would Gurov have approached her than? Or would he simply let her get up and leave as if he didn't know her, knowing that it could have been the last time he ever saw her? All questions were just left for the reader's imagination. As Gurov proceeded to approach the only woman in his life who had made him so miserable by b


I found that to be the most exhilarating part of the story only because the author tried to deceive the reader in the beginning of the story by adding phrases in like when she said to him "let me look at you one more time" and him saying "this young woman whom I'll never meet again". And also because the author made Gurov out to be a playboy who didn't really need a single female. In fact he was even getting bored of her when they were together. Maybe he didn't know what he had till he lost it? But who's to say that if they get together they wouldn't do the same thing to each other as they did to their spouses?
