A detailed Summary of Technology Is it Good or Bad


Matthew Fox is the president of the University of Creation Spirituality and co-director of the Naropa Institute's program in creation spirituality. Fox states his distorted views of what the world is coming to in an article called Kosovo, Columbine, and Evil. These are the views of a radical who thinks many of the accomplishments of our time are destroying us as a society. Fox mentions that the earth is destroying itself by its technological culture. Technology has improved the way of life for all and it is the only way we will survive. The benefits from our technological achievements can not be measured. I am not advocating pollution but some things must be sacrificed for our, greatest of importance, our struggle to advance.

Since the beginning of time, the goal of a civilization was to improve their way life. Improvement means to change things for the better. Technology helps with this change. Form the Aztecs to the Egyptians you can see that both of them, over time, developed into great technological cultures. Both cultures have technological marvels. The Aztec's have their great temples and the Egyptians have the marvelous pyramids. Their society and culture had flourished


Technology has a tremendous positive side but it does have a slight negative side. Since the American industrial revolution, man has polluted the earth more in the last hundred years than any other time in history. We have been very destructive and irresponsible in the ways we treat our land but we have definitely changed our bad habits. From companies dumping their toxic waste into our lakes, that contaminate our drinking waters, to fast food restaurants using styrofoam, which aren't biodegradable, society had heard the cry's of nature. There have been federal mandates for policy changes in the amount of pollution that is sent out as trash. The only reason we have done such a bad job in taking care of the environment is because we lacked the knowledge of how we were affecting the earth and how to go about to change it. True there has been some irreversible damage to the earth but it pales in comparison to the amount of positive achievements we have made. With the great advancement in technologies has also produced many items that are now helping the clean up of our lands.

The ramifications of computers in our society are unimaginable. Computers posses the ability to educate people from simple reading and math to complex medical problems
