A detailed Summary of Liberals in the Entertaiment Media
In today's world, the promoting of political agendas and
specific ideologies in the entertainment media is not uncommon.
As Americans, we have become so prone to seeing this on a daily
basis, that we do not notice them in our favorite television
shows and movies. Most movies and television shows tend to push
a specific ideology along the political spectrum. Whether it be
a strong liberal or a strong conservative view. In the following
paragraphs, several television shows and movies are examined for
their strong support of liberal ideals, along with the liberal's
issues that they support and their political tendencies.
Before examining liberals in the media, one must first understand what it means to be a liberal and see where the ideologies first came from. The ideas of the liberals we know today, were first brought together in the early days of the formation of our country. These first ideologies formed by liberals was to have a strong support of individual rights, and that the government was the primary threat to those rights. So in turn, liberals favored a limited government and fought for the guarantee of the people's rights as citizens of our country. The liberals of today's world still hold true to thes

ally speaking, liberals believe in working for the majority rather than individually, and by doing so believe the future will hold something better for our country. All of these ideals expressed is what makes up the liberals of today in our government. Now that it is known what the liberal ideals are, one can spot what influences they have on the entertainment media of our society.
Not only are liberal issues and agendas being pushed in the movie industry, their ideologies can be seen throughout the television industry as well. One television series in particular was All in the Family. This series was used to push liberal issues and to make the conservative ideologies seem comical, almost foolish to the viewing public. Also the show made the conservative way of thinking look old fashioned. All in the Family was a show that revolved around the main character, Archie Bunker. He lived with his wife, Edith, his daughter, Gloria, and his son-in-law Michael. Archie was a hard working, middle class, American, who held great pride in being a conservative. Archie was also a believer in a strong military and was a racist. His son-in-law, Michael, was a strong believer in liberalism. This scene set the stage for the show. Archie
