Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

..."Preserve the Wildlife - Driving Impaired Kills Friends"

Impaired driving has become the principle criminal cause of death in Canada. Did you know that each year, about 289,000 people are injured in alcohol-related crashes? This means that one person is injured every two minutes. Not all drunk drivers have caused an injury or fatality, but this doesn't mean we should let them get away with it. The main question that arises is whether or not people who have been convicted of driving under the influence should lose their licence for life. I believe the answer to this question is yes. By increasing the penalties for this offense, it can be used as a deterrent. It would provide a safer environment for society. Also, it would give families who have lost loved ones to this offense a sense of relief and retribution.

If legislators can increase penalties of impaired driving by giving those who are convicted of the offense a lifetime suspension of their license, it will serve as a better deterrent. Impaired individuals will think whether or not driving at that time would be worth

Adding a lifetime suspension to the penalties of drunk driving will be effective in one way or the other. It will deter other individuals of committing the same offense. It will provide a safer driving environment for our society, and last but not least, it will give family members who have lost love ones to the offense a sense of retribution and relief to know that the convicted will pay a bigger penalty. There are so many penalties that I wish could be implemented to this offense to cut down the number of drunk drivers. Unfortunately, I don't have the power to do this, so the only thing left to do is to pray. Pray that people start to think before they act and realize what the consequences of driving impaired.

"The victims make up the statistics, but they are real people. We must never forget this among the piles of papers and stacks of data and for some, the glory that comes with the championing of a cause. Once we forget the faces, we forget the real meaning of the cause we were originally fighting for."

Hopefully the outcome of the increased penalties of life suspension of license will create a safer environment to drive in. Sin
