My Dilemma
A detailed Summary of My Dilemma
Everyone goes through conflicts throughout their lives. Some people experience these conflicts when they are old and some come across their dilemmas when they are young. I am not experiencing a midlife crisis, but I have recently and still am going through the biggest conflict that I have come across. This has to deal with me leaving home and going to college. This choice I had to make has had a big impact on my life and others.
My dilemma all started senior year in high school. It was time to start the college search or even wrap it up. I was clueless going into the college search. I didn't know where I wanted to go; I didn't even know where to start. So, I picked up a few books, asked for some advice from some teachers, and my guidance counselor, then I started my search. It took me a long time to put a list together, but I finished it. My parents and I looked it over several times before I narrowed the choices. I applied to all the schools and got in to all of them. Choosing one school was a hard choice for me. There were so many things holding me back. Yet, there were so many things pushing me forward towards my future. The biggest thing holding me back was my girlfrien

At this point, I knew that I was paying for college by myself with very little help, because my family is not very wealthy. So, I proceeded with the search and I finally narrowed it down to three schools. Then I looked at how well the schools compared to each other. I looked at the location, size, and diversity of the schools. From this information I narrowed it down to two schools, Manhattan College and Stony Brook. Both of these schools were about one to two and half-hours away, but the prices were different by about ten thousand dollars. This was the big deciding issue.
nce the first time I visited Manhattan I felt comfortable. This was the place where I could have seen myself.
I wanted to leave as soon as possible. I needed to be on my own. I wanted to be the one to tell myself when to have the car in, when to come home, and when to do my
I still miss my girlfriend, but I made a promise to see her twice a month, so I know that we will be fine. Making the choice of which college to go to was a tough decision, but when I graduate from my first four years then I will have to make another choice of which college I will go to. The only thing is this time I will have the experience of doing it once before, so it won't be so hard the second time around.
The campus was so big, the money was reasonable, there were so many people and the programs were rumored to be excellent. The diversity was the thing that shocked me. I felt like I was a minority at the school. Not that this was a problem, but I felt a little uncomfortable going there because I was used to a small town of Montgomery where I had grown up. In Montgomery I knew everyone in my school, a lot of people around town, and I had so many friends. Going from a small town to one of the largest cities in the world, is a big change.
Sooner or later I was leaving for school and things got tough with my girlfriend. Things got tough between us because of what other people had said. My girlfriend was afraid that I was going to meet someone else, and forget about her. After a year and a half there was no way this relationship was going to end.
d. We had been through so much together in the past year; I didn't want to leave her. She was my first true love, like the love stories you see in the movies. I wanted to stay at least two to three
hours away from her, so we could see each other all the time. She was all I thought about at this time so she was number one. My girlfriend wanted me to stay close to home too. I agreed with her abou
