Rationalization & Procrastination
A detailed Summary of Rationalization & Procrastination
Rationalization and Procrastination are two evils of the world, which I feel, are the cause of many of the world's problems. Procrastination is defined as the postponement of doing something, especially as a regular practice. Rationalization is defined as an attempt to justify behavior normally considered irrational or unacceptable by offering an apparently reasonable explanation. Rationalization and procrastination are considered to be evils in the Bible.
Rationalization is one side of the story. I have a friend that I will call Bob. Bob was pulled over by a police officer and given a ticket for running a stop sign. He was given a $120 ticket. He rationalized in his mind that it was the police's fault and that the officer shouldn't have been there. He knew that his actions had been safe and that he had indeed rolled through the sign. Bob had to work really hard to pay for the ticket. Generally, rationalization is unconscious. We slip into it unaware and gradually it becomes a crutch for those who do not want to take responsibility for their actions. Rationalization, after a period of time, begins to numb one's reality creating a world of no responsibility.
