Interpret two myths that exist from different civilizations and analyze their similarities. Focus on ritual-religious beliefs that seem important to the specific cultural or societal backgrounds of the two different civilizations. Throughout history there have been numerous ancient societies that share different beliefs on the beginnings of the world. Although dissenting beliefs are present, these ancient cultures share common interests in the origin of man, creation of the earth, and explanation of natural phenomenon. Without explanation, these questions are left for one to ponder and elaborate, thus the myth. A myth is used by societies as an explanation to the unexplainable. One of the most important myths, include those regarding the creation of man and earth. Myths regarding creation give cultures a premise, from whic

h they can expand their religious and cultural beliefs to define natural phenomenon. In creation myths the first person is usually introduced; from that person the earth and its roots are formed. In examining the creation myths of the Greeks and Hindu's we discover different views as to the creation of earth as well as man.
These two creation myths are very genuine, and extremely diverse in explanations of the creation of earth and man. Though different, there was an underlying common belief from both cultures that a super natural force or higher being created the universe and man alike. Both cultures conceded that one being was the cause of these occurrences. The Hindu Lord and the Greek gods also had a common theme in that everything that was created was in support of the creation that they preceded. Everything that was created from the earth to the sky was intended complement each other, they worked together
