In "Death of Darwinism" author George Sim Johnston states that there is controversy over the evolutionary theory of Darwin, not the concept of evolution. Speaking on this topic, Johnston tries to point out some of the problems with Darwin's theory of evolution by giving other scientist views and views of his own.
Johnston uses an antagonistic Rhetoric style by presenting Darwin's theories, then breaks them down and counters them. Johnston first starts out by presenting Darwin's main theory of natural selection. He then gives an experiment of Darwin's that involved the select breeding of pigeons. Darwin based part of his theory of natural selection from this experiment claiming that all forms of life came from a single organism at the beginning of time. Johnston argues the fact that Darwin only observed micro-evolution. Micro-evolution is small changes that happ
The way that Johnston uses information and quotes from other scientists is convincing. Doing this shows that there is scientific evidence that backs up his claims. I think that this makes his points stronger because it shows that he has done research on the subject which makes him more creditable. Although Johnston brings up some good points that are backed with several studies, some of his points are some what weak. Although Johnston uses a lot of scientific information, I think that where he attacks Darwin's quote about the "battle of life", he is only using isolated occurrences. Just reading Darwin's work you think that he is very clear about evolution but after reading this article I think that it shows that there is many things still need to be explained before you can accept the whole theory of evolution.
Johnson attacks Darwin's quote the "struggle for survival" or "battle of life", where Darwin claims that animals change to adapt to
