no evidence for noahs worldwide flood

NO EVIDENCE FOR NOAH'S WORLDWIDE FLOOD

Evolution or Special Creation? There are two major groups with ideas on the origin of Earth and life on it. Special Creationists are fundamental Christians who believe the Bible is the true and absolute word of God. Creationists believe that God created the entire universe, the Earth and all life on it, in six days between 5,000 and 10,000 years ago exactly as it was written in the Old Testament's Book of Genesis. They also believe that the geological record was the result of a great worldwide flood. In fact Creationists rely almost entirely on a worldwide flood to support their young Earth beliefs. There is no evidence that the entire geological record and fossil record was the result of a single universal flood that happened a few thousand years ago, lasted a little longer than a year and covered the highest mountains.

There are problems from the beginning of Noah's story. First, how did Noah gather all the animals? Could the animals traveled from some where else? If the animals came from other parts of the world some of them would have faced very great difficulties. Some animals like sloths and penguins can't travel overland very well at all. Some animals like koalas and many insects

Loading all the animals into the ark would have been impossible. Noah only had seven days to load the Ark (Gen. 7:4-10). "Even if only 15764 animals were loaded aboard the Ark, one animal would have to have been loaded every 38 seconds, without letup. Since there were more animals to load, the time pressures would have been even worse."(Fezer, 49) Next, how did Noah fit all the animals onboard the Ark? On the Ark there were over 810,000 different species of life. There were at least two members of each species, which means the Ark has over 1.6 million animals onboard. The measurements of the Ark were 450 feet long, 525 feet across, and 45 feet high (Gen. 6:15). This works out to 6.5 cubic feet of space per animal. Also, how did Noah care for all the animals? Some animals require special diets. Koalas need eucalyptus leaves, and silkworms eat nothing but mulberry leaves. For thousands of plant species there is at least one kind of animal that eats only that one kind of plant. !

There are still many unanswered questions the creationists fail to answer after the Flood was over and the waters receded and Noah and everybody and every thing finally left the Ark. One question is how did the animals get to their present ranges? How did koalas get from Ararat to Australia, polar bears to the Arctic etc., when the kinds of environments they need to live doesn't exist between the two points. Another question is how did the human population rebound so fast? "Genealogies in Genesis put the Tower of Babel about 110 to 150 years after the Flood (Gen. 10:25, 11:10-19). How did the world population regrow so fast to make its construction (and the city around it) possible? Similarly, there would have been few people around to build Stonehedge and the Pyramids, rebuild the Sumerian and Indus Valley civilizations and populate the Americas." (Dundes, 319)

"Creationists believe that all the fossils we see today died in the same year, in the Flood, and were sorted out, buried and fossilized in the flood sediments. This is the creationist's "scientific" explanation for the fossil record, which they refer to as Flood Geology."(Schadewald, 12)

Whitcomb, J.C. Jr & H.M. Morris. (1961). The Genesis Flood. Philadelphia PA:

Geologists should also expect that all mountain ranges should show near equal amounts of erosion. They don't. For example, why weren't the Sierra Nevadas eroded as much as the Appalachians during the Flood? Also there is no evidence for a flood in tree ring dating. Tree ring records go back more then 10,000 years with no evidence of a catastrophe during that time.
