water
Water is the most familiar and abundant liquid on earth. In solid liquid form it coversabout 70% of the earth’s surface. The unique properties of water make life possible on Earth. Water characteristics, such as adhesion and cohesion, surface tension, and high heat capacity affects the organism of the Earth. The hydrogen bonds between water molecules results in two important properties : adhesion-an attraction between dissimilar substances and cohesion - and the attraction between similar substances. Acting together, adhesion and cohesion are responsible for capillary action, which allows water to move through the roots of plants and through the tiny blood vessels in our body. Plants and trees couldn’t survive without capillary action.
