The Road of Censorship

Censorship violates our First Amendments rights to free speech. It does this by suppressing information contanied in books, magazines and other publications as best said by Berger,

Censorship is the control of communication between people. It includes restriction on what can be written in books, newspapers and magazines; what can be show in movies and play on television, and what can be said in speeches and on radio. Mostly, censorship practiced by governments, but religious and special interest groups also try to control the flow of information. (Qtd. Berger 1)

That is the usual term for censorship; in reality it goes much further by telling the public what to wear, what to watch, and trying to tell us how to think. It does this in the suppression of our God given right to decide on our own what is best for us. We the people made this country for individual freedoms it is not anyone's place to tell us what we can choose. As a whole, most people and mature enough to decide for themselves in what ways they would like to express themselves. I would not tell you how to live your life, just as you would do the same. However, the advocates of censorship would like you to think they are not impeding on y

Professor Jenkins at M.I.T.: Aggression is a natural part of society and yet we continually deny it. I do not see a lot of real hard evidence that today is anymore violent than it was a hundred years ago. We scapegoat technology, it is just the same as saying 'technology made them do it' or that 'television made them do it' but it is after just a way of denying the reality of natural aggression. (Qtd. Edleton 4)

our rights but acting in the best interests of all of us, to protect us from ourselves, and our children from "dangerous" ideas. It is the children they say that would be hurt most by these ideas. So they take upon themselves to parent our children for us.

need to reject society is there then books did not plant it. It is the parents who did not raise their children right. Blaming books and other entertainment mediums is attacking a symptom of the problem not the root. These are the things censor fear, but if even they were right in what they thought was the best choice, it is not there place and never will be to choose for us. This is just one of the way censorship violates our free choice.

Censorship is happening everywhere besides the usual books, and movies. It has moved into the information age by attacking the web, television, and video games. Trying to make the public to read, watch, or play what they see fit. This takes away your right to choose this is another way censorship takes away your rights. Attacks have been led by the idea that violence in video games, and in television will make the viewer become desensitized from actual violence. Violent behavior is not triggered by violence in entertainment, nor is it triggered in computer games. The fact is that most "real life" violence comes from abusive childhoods, uncaring families, or having to fight to survive. All these factors are what lead to natural aggression, not television, or games, however these are the things censors are trying to take away. When in fact it really is natural aggression.

To validate anyone's argument you must first understand the pro-censorship point of view. Education Research Analysts operated out of Longview Texas by two textbook analysts: Mel and Norman Gabler, they produce reviews of textbook and other school publications. They are consultants to may pro - censorship group
