The Cure For Substance Abuse

The major drug epidemic that America is facing today is going to be no easy problem to fix, if it is even possible to fix it at all. The reason that the drug problem will more than likely never be stopped is because those who are in charge of the war on drugs are not only taking the wrong approaches to eliminating drug use, but their goal of total eradication has defeated them before they've begun. Our countries politicians and media have turned the usage of illegal drugs into a political platform and an attention grabber to help further their careers, and in the process have made the use of illegal substances, marijuana especially, seem to be more hazardous a problem than it really is. We need to be focusing on making this country run smoothly enough so people will no longer feel they need to use drugs to cope with their lives. If our country took all of the money they spend in one year on the DARE program and applied it to mental health, rehabilitative, and child welfare services I guarantee ther!

There are many different things that can be done in this country to eradicate the use of legal and illegal drugs, because people decide to use drugs for many different reasons. The first, and probably the most unrealistic tactic, is to attempt to make drugs uncool. As long as our kids favorite rappers and movie stars use drugs, the kids are going to continue to try them. Unfortunately though there is nothing that can be done about this outside of all of the famous people in the world coming together an
