C.S. Lewis's ,"The Screwtape Letters" , is an interesting look

into the memoirs of two devils which exist only to bring souls to hell. The

story is full of clever insight to a negative spiritual community who is

highly educated in the art of mind manipulation. Lewis narrates the story

keenly through letters which the two devils send to each other. The two

demonic spirits portray the role of teacher and apprentice which proves to be

a learning experience and a test of patience. The humor and wit through out

the story keeps the reader's attention while some deep comments really hit

home. The author tries to get the reader to think and analyze emotional,

social , and mental situations on a spiritual level. Through the attempts of the


most serious topics in the world and makes fun of it while at the same

bring to hell, a "patient". They see being a human as a disease, while we see

comparison to the very creatures that they are trying to manipulate.

C.S. Lewis did a great job at making the battle for a soul seem like a
