The youth of this generation are faced with many negative externalities. Drugs, sex, and violence are all factors that urban areas deal with day to day. Music has become an infamous influence on our youth. From just the repetition of lyrics said to the portrayal of artists has put an image to be recognized as dangerous to our younger generation. This generation looks up to these artists that come from the same neighborhoods that these children and teens live in, with that in mind, these artists live lives that resemble some of the negativity found on the streets. Music artists today have lost sight of making quality informational messages, to produce lyrics that sell a disapproving image; in which the music industry benefits from the most. Most artists in the industry today, usually come from urban areas in the country. Their lives have been surrounded by violence, sex, and drugs, and in the lyrics that is all that is revealed to the fans. These artists come into the industry with distorted views already, since dealing with it all their life, they're closed minded about the rest of the world. The messages are so detrimental, our youth aren't knowledgeable enough to distinguish between what is good and bad behavior. By the time the teenage years approach, the views of these young ones are so mislead and misconstrued that they actually think they're above the law, and no one can touch them. With that attitude of conceit, it's impossible to enstill morals and values. ists that come into the industry thinking that they're going to be rich, they take it for granted that they can't be ripped off.
