Air Force ROTC
Would you like to go to college for free? Would you like to have fun at college? Would you like a high paying job immediately after graduation? If you said, "yes" to any of those three questions, then the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corp (AFROTC) is for you! Now, before you say that the Air Force is not for you, you must realize that AFROTC is not like enlisting in the Air Force. AFROTC is a lot of money, fun training, and afterwards you become a Second Lieutenant. The Air Force is little money, brutal training, and you are at the bottom of the food chain. When you join AFROTC, you are guaranteed a scholarship if you can make it to your junior year. It may not be a large scholarship, around $2000 a semester, but you also receive $200 a month for an allowance. If you have the grades, then you can get a full scholarship. I have a full scholarship, and many of you know that my grades weren't to great in high school. Everything is paid for, tuition, room and board, books, and you receive the $200 a month. Also, there are many other scholarships in between. There is a 91% that you will receive a scholarship by your junior year. When you become a Second Lieutenant, your salary will be about $41,275. There is no
When you enlist into the Air Force, you will become an Airman, which is your rank. You will get paid for joining the Air Force, but it's not the greatest pay. It's more than being a dishwasher, but not more than a Second Lieutenant. You won't be able to support a family with an Air Force salary as an Airman. As a Second Lieutenant you will be able to support your family, and cruise around in a BMWc. The governmental benefits you receive as an Airman are nothing compared to that of a Second Lieutenant (health, dental, and pension). You may not have to pay for college when joining the Air Force, but you will not have an education either. If you're thinking about joining AFROTC, then go for it, because it is nothing like enlisting in the Air Force. AFROTC will pay for your college costs; it is fun with many extra-curricular clubs; and they will make you a Second Lieutenant. The Air Force will pay you minimum Air Force salary; it is not fun with 6 weeks of boot camp; and they will make you an Airman. Which would you choose? AFROTC has been a good experience for me, and if you don't like it you can always get out of the program with no obligation to you. When joining the Air Force, you are signing your life away for 6 years, four years in active duty, and 2 years in the reserves. First, you will have to go to a 6 weeklong boot camp, where they will teach you everything you need to know about the Air Force, and whip you into shape. The camp is long and physically demanding. After finishing AFROTC it's only a four-year commitment, and a two weeklong boot camp, which is much easier. As an Airman you will have to clean the floor with a toothbrush, and dig holes jus
