A Narrowed Minded View of Christianity Compared to Other Religions
A Narrowed Minded View of Christianity Compared to Other Religions In this course I have learned about many religions. I have agreed and disagreed on many of the topics. The religion I follow and worship is Christianity. So when I learn about other religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism, I tend to judge and compare them to Christianity. In this paper will compare and contrast Christianity to these other religions. The first religion is Hinduism. Hinduism is known as the oldest alive religion. It has no real founder. But has one main god and many others are known. The four most popular gods are Brahma, Indra, Varuna, and Agni. The most important god is Brahma, also know as Prajapiti. He is the creator god. Indra is known as the ideal god and god of war. Indra led he Aryans to victory in northern India. He sported the thunderbolt as his weapon. This symbolized storm and rain. He was also a great giver for luck and wealth. Varuna is the next god. He is the god of moral order. Varuna received prayers and gave them to the other gods. He was also known as the forgiver. The last god is Agni. Agni is the god of fire. Agni was worshiped along with the sun (Savitar). They were worshiped a
The Aryans were divided into five tribes. The five tribes had three different groups within them. First there was the rank of princes and warriors. The society was run by them. They are known as the leaders. Next are the priestly singers. They were important because they lead the public ceremonies. The lowest rank of people were known as "the people". They farmed and took care of cattle. Not knowingly they were maybe the most important of all the people. They were the ones that produced all the food for the town. But they were controlled by the warrior's families. These are a couple religions that are also big in the world. I have showed how they compare to each other. Although I have learned about these religions I still believe in Christianity. The only unfair thing I find in religion is that a person does not really choose their religion. A person does not have that choice until later in life. By this time they have already been "brainwashed" by their families religion. This makes them think that they are believing the right religion and they get scared to change their mind. That is why I take advantage of any time I can learn about other religions. Still I stand by mine even though it also puts some doubts in my mind. But religion is such an important part of history along with our lives. It in a way guides us to do the right thing. That is the one fact all religions have in common. They all lean towards the right action or belief. The main law of Hinduism was to follow your dharma. Dharma is the actions in which you should do. The reason to do your dharma is so you do not acquire karma. Karma is kind of like negative points against you that hold you from entering moksha. Moksha is the main goal of life. Moksha is a release from everything. A person may have to go through many lives to receive moksha. great concentration and loss of desire to achieve. The main rule is to loose suffering by not desiring. These are the main points of Buddhism. swer to life is. He followed different teachers for about six years.
