WNBA
It is the intent of the WNBA to provide great basketball action to sport lovers. They intend to do this by increasing the visibility of the WNBA, normalizing repeat buyers, and offering more flexible options to its supporters. The WNBA is targeting women and families as their primary market and therefore selling ticket to youth groups and community organizations. Their current situation is stable yet if they are going to survive, the must stay focused on the many goals and objective that are presented in the SWOT analysis. IV. MARKETING STRATEGY AND ACTION PLAN Currently the WNBA (Women's National Basketball League) is in a good position in that it is new, has a fresh look, and is more affordable than most of the competing forms of entertainment. The Women's National Basketball Association is owned in its entirety by the National Basketball League (men's teams). This gives them the necessary backing both financially and in terms of corporate sponsoring to continue during t
currently advertised during the NBA (men's league) games. To ensure the growth of the league, they are spending a lot of time and energy focusing on the physical fitness tour. This is consistent with their fan friendly attitude. The women's league intends to keep the players accessible to the public and fans as to promote interest in both the players and the games. All of these are good, strong marketing strategies. I believe that the WNBA's current marketing strategy will serve them well to continue a prosperous existence if they continue to research, develop and market appropriately. They are still in the start-up phase and will probably see no real profits until year five and six. The relationships that they have created are at present, healthy and beneficial for both sides. They must not rest on their laurels however, because as stated, the competition for them is all other forms of entertainment. 3) Kallam, Clay. (1999) NCAA should be less predictable than WNBA. If the WNBA is able to utilize all of their opportunities to their advantage, along with their strengths they will remain very successful and move into the 'cash cow' area. With the 2000 Olympics approaching soon, the audience of viewers of women's basketball has the potential to increase greatly. The use of their alliances with major corporations and the media along with proper advertising can put them in a strong position to grow.
