rejection

A detailed Summary of rejection

The quotation from J.D Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye, relates to what I believe the meaning of college is. The author is trying to tell us that college will show you what you are destined for in life. It will show you how your mind will accept and what it will reject. College will be the beginning of the rest of your life.

J.D Salinger is trying to show us that if we just stick with college it will show us what we, as individuals can except. It will allow you to accept and reject certain ideas that will be forced upon you in your college life. It is the time when you decide for yourself what you will do for the rest of your life. Salinger say's " If you go along with it any considerable distance, it'll begin to give you an idea what size mind you have. What it'll fit and, maybe, what it won't." (Pg. ?).

Salinger is trying to show us much more with this one quotation however.

J.D. Salinger has shown me the meaning of college with just one single quotation. He has shown me the steps I need to take to realize what I want to do with the rest of my life. He is trying to show us that we need to avoid certain things that just were not meant for us. The only way to find out what path we need to take is to go to college for a fair amount of time. I now know what the true meaning of college is for myself.
