The classic 1941 film by Orson Wells, Citizen Kane, contained an unforgettable object, "Rosebud," which was referred to throughout the film. "Rosebud", was the last dying word of Charles Foster Kane, a rich and powerful newspaper mogul. While he lay on his deathbed in his mansion, he gazed at a snow globe and uttered the word "Rosebud." Rosebud was a sled that Kane had when he was a child. After his death a reporter is sent out to discover the meaning of Kane's last word, which is believed to reveal the secrets to Kane's mysterious and complicated life. The reporter's assignment is to get in touch with all of Kane's friends and associates in order to find out the meaning behind the word "Rosebud."

The sled as an image is a memento from Kane's childhood with his mother. The snow globe is a metaphor for the sled and the day that his parents sent him away. The sled represents the childhood, innocence, and love that he lost and has not been able to recapture in his life.
