Capital punishment, as the definition reads, is the penalty of death for a crime. It has been used since biblical ages for crimes, and it seems like a simple enough an just way of being punished. Some people have raised the question, asking if people have the right to decide on the fate of someones life. This plan of punishment is very costly, and sometimes even used on innocent people. Capital punishment is an unjust way of taking someones life and it should not be carried out in the U.S.

My thoughts on capital punishment are that capital punishment is, in fact, needlessly cruel.
Although capital punishment, in essence, seems like a good idea, here are many problems. First, many public groups oppose the death penalty saying that it is needlessly cruel and no one has the right to take away a life except for God. This always causes problems in a political sense. The cost of court costs is an outrageous amount. The prisoner is on death row normally anywhere from 5-15 years before executed. The main reason capital punishment is used, is to ensure that the prisoner, who is a violent offender, cannot escape from prison and commit another violent crime. The problem with that is in the U.S. we have very high security prisons and the chance of an offender escaping is almost 0 percent.
