Stress
As you know, stress affects each and every one of us. It makes us sick, it makes us mad, and it makes us all around crazy. So what is stress? Stress is a physiological and psychological response to a condition that threatens or challenges a person and requires some form of adaptation or adjustment. Which means almost everything in life is considered stress, good or bad. Plus, stress leads to health and many psychological problems, which leads to this question: How stressed are we as people? What I have done is passed out questionnaires called the Holmes and Rahe's Social Readjustment Rating scale (SRRS) to various people. The SRRS is a scale that measures stress by ranking different life events from the most stressful to the least stressful and assigning a point value to each. By giving out 22 of the SRRS to a group of different individuals of different ages and gender I hope to find out whom is the most stressed and what stresses them the most. These are the results from the 22 SRRS I passed out. As you can see from my results, women from the age of 19-25 and women from the age of 25-40 are about evenly matched. Men 19-25 on the other hand, are much more stressed than men 25-40
Some of the biggest stresses in the life of young men 19-25 are change in work hours, change in residence change in social activities and change in sleeping habits. I think this is because the young men are out for independence so they move out of the house which means they have to get a higher paying job and work more hours. Then, because they are working more hours, they get less sleep and they find themselves not going out as much. Just to add a personal note, I think sexual difficulties affect more young men than they would like to admit. I was a little surprised by these results, but at the same time, not surprised. I was surprised that women matched up because I thought that younger women from the ages of 19-25 would be less stressed than women 25-40. I thought this would be true because a lot of the younger women I tested are young and they have not reached their sexual peek so they do not have sex on their mind to worry them as much. Plus the younger women I tested did not have children at home and most of them were not married. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Older women 25-40 stressed about marriage most of all, but the funny thing about this is that almost all of the women I tested are not married. It seems they stressed about wanting to get marrie
